Missionaries in the jungles of Iquitos, located 640 miles north-northeast of Lima, Peru, Joe and Sandra minister to the Urarina Indians. They began by establishing churches in the villages and now have 5 Peruvian men who oversee the ministry daily. In April 2000, they began drilling water wells for families and communities, approximately 9 per month.
In the past 3 years, they have been helping arrange surgeries for children with cleft palates. When Joe is ministering in Iquitos, he might be taking a riverboat or walking jungle paths for hours to days at a time to get to the villages. The farthest tribes are 5 to 6 days away from civilization. He loves ministering to this people group.
